After a long week of basic training (watch for the blog on this cool week), we took a weekend trip to Waco, TX. Marci has always wanted to see the “Silos and Magnolia Market”. As a fan of Chip and Joanna Gains’ “Fixer Upper”, she wanted to get the vibe in person. Being only a couple of hours away….
We stayed at an adorable Air-b-n-b outside Waco.

After coffee, we got right to the hottest spot in Waco!

After a nice visit at Magnolia, we stopped by the Texas Ranger Museum. It was small but well done. There is also an OLD cemetery (some graves dating back to 1790) across the street. There was a separate “Jewish” section (it is still fenced “apart” today).

The next stop proved to be the GEM of the day! An Anabaptist community (the Amish, Mennonite, and Quakers are all considered members of this religion) with an incredible village called “The Homestead Heritage”. It was amazing!

And no trip to Texas would be complete without a trip to Buc-ees. Yup, a truck stop. We drove forty miles to see this one, and trust me, if you haven’t seen one you should spend a few extra minutes and drive the miles to see it. EVERYTHING IS BIGGER IN TEXAS!
