Today marked a painful milestone…. Vaccinations #9, 10, and 11. Specifically for Typhoid, Polio, and Yellow Fever. We have been getting poked for months now. Including both Hepatitis A & B, Tetanus and Diphtheria, Measles mumps and rubella, and Tuberculosis. That’s a whole lotta shots and some very sore arms!

We still have the final Hepatitis shots (one is two part and the other three), but the end is in sight! And we both agree that the minor discomfort is WAY better than the sicknesses they prevent.

We will also have to take a daily prophylactic for malaria once we head to the ship. And keep in mind, the ship is a hospital with a crew doctor (more on that in a later post).

We leave for Texas (our pre-ship training) in twenty days and will be in Africa in forty-five days.

The Africa Mercy Ship left South Africa for Madagascar today, so lots happening in the world of hope and healing.
